Planning tragedy

We have watched the development of the Warkworth Ridge subdivision with a growing sadness at the way council planning rules and city-type developmental thinking are slowly going to destroy the beautiful rural town nature of Warkworth.

A recent drive through the subdivision confirmed to us what a mish-mash of a development it is, devoid of any beauty, with housing units squashed in together and barely room to swing a cat between them.
In our opinion, before any new subdivisions are consented in the Warkworth area, there should be a proper public consultation process, to determine whether this type of development is all that Warkworth deserves, or whether we can do better to create pleasant and desirable living developments. A good example of such a well-done development is the recent residential subdivision at Point Wells, where adequate space and aesthetics have been taken into account.

We would be interested to know what other readers think.
